For those familiar with us, you’ll know all about how we expertly deliver the best talent across the Call and Contact Centre Industry. Our success isn’t just down to the hard work of our teams, but the strong relationships we have formed over the past 13 years. While we take great care to get to know our clients and candidates as best as we possibly can, it’s occurred to us that you may not know that much about us!
Read below for an intimate insight into our teams across Cactus Search and Frontline!
So this is me; I fell into Contact Centre recruitment (how else would it happen!) at the ripe old age of 21. A super learning curve in a fun and exciting company which provided me with many experiences and taught me a a great deal. Moving on from there corporate life had it’s advantageous and provided me with an insight into how large corporations work, however, the itch of having my own business was too much and Cactus seemed like a natural progression - having been asked many times over the years where the name ‘Cactus’ came from, we can confirm it was the result of a good old brainstorming in a bar!. Being in the industry for close to 20 years I've been fortunate enough to have made some fantastic friends and have had the pleasure to work with a diverse set of companies and individuals, not to mention some candidates whom I have been fortunate enough to represent a number of times, helping them on their journey.
The team here at Cactus are everything you'd want, professional yet know how to have fun, knowledgeable yet know we are all still learning and my ‘work family’ genuinely make my working life so much more enjoyable.
Other than a short stint in the hospitality industry, Francesca has always worked in the hedonistic world that is recruitment. Firstly within the IT sector (when Faxes were at the old e-mail!), she moved onto Capita to head up the Contact Centre volume resourcing business (incidentally this is where she met her future co-director Guy) and a few fun filled years later Cactus was born.
Certainly not shy and retiring, Francesca leads from the front, she’s a consultant at heart and in addition to leading on some of the more senior search assignments, she also heads the team who deliver all of our volume frontline campaigns.
Life and soul of the party, you can only describe her as good fun, loud and more often than not fairly outspoken with a love of The Archers and The Darling Bugs of May!
I joined Cactus Search in May 2008 and the past 8 years have flown by. I have just over 10 years recruitment experience altogether and having worked in High-street recruitment for a short stint I interviewed with Cactus and loved the culture and opportunity to work for a truly credible brand.
My passion is building relationships with my partners and candidates alike, which over the years has proven invaluable. I love that every day is different at Cactus and we have an amazing team! I would describe our team as a family (very corny I know!!!) Lots of laughter & support which gets us all through challenging times. Out of work I'm a step-mom to two amazing girls and my husband and I love nothing more than spending time together and walking our crazy Springer Spaniel. I'm also a keen runner and ran the Edinburgh Marathon (2016) and raised £2000 for two incredible charities. It was a great achievement and running with my two brothers was incredibly memorable.
I'm officially part of the furniture here and look forward to what the future brings!
Matt used to work in London, working for a ftse100 company ‘Reed Business Information’ on one of their online lead generation company’s managing SME accounts. He moved back to Worcester to start a family and so was on the look out for a job when his friend introduced him to Francesca and Guy who in Matts own words were on the look out for a charming, charismatic, professional, attractive and self-assured individual with bags of energy and looking to be successful in Worcestershire… but they were busy so they hired Matt!! His best Cactus memory is winning the 2014 incentive for highest grossing employee.
People would be surprised to know that Matt has a degree in dance and drama and is scared of the dark! His guilty pleasure is peanut butter and cherry jam sandwiches, which he works off by cycling 3 miles to work every morning and a gym session in his lunch break.
Originally from the south coast, Becky began working for a travel agency but found it wasn’t challenging enough as a career. Deciding recruitment was the way forward, she worked for over 10 years with some of the leading commercial high street agencies before relocating to Worcester. Becky joined the Cactus team over four years ago as a Senior Consultant and currently recruits for Senior Management positions in call centres. She enjoys working at Cactus and says we are professional, down to earth and know the market place extremely well. The best thing about working at Cactus is we are a close family unit working and socialising together.
Described as crazy, loud, fun, outgoing and up for anything…. showing her crazy side she once jumped out of an aeroplane!
Lauren has always aimed high quite literally as she started her career as an Air Hostess, travelling the world and apologising for flight delays. She kicked off her recruitment career by training as a Head Hunter within the legal industry, then moving onto a high street recruitment agency before joining Cactus nearly a year ago! She loves the family atmosphere at Cactus and has fond memories of a Mexican fancy dress party with margaritas!
Lauren’s guilty pleasure is camping and says Cacti are her favourite plants – did you know they are desert bound, fond of Western movies and flower when it rains.
Nicki began her career in recruitment working for Pertemps before moving to Npower, Cactus used to share an office building with Pertemps and heard that Cactus Frontline were recruiting although she loved her job at Npower she missed the buzz of recruitment so jumped at the chance to join the Cactus team and hasn’t looked back! She loves the fast paced environment at Cactus and the opportunity for self-development, stating it’s always a joy coming into the office where everyone’s opinion is valued, it’s a great team spirit.
Nicki has a musical side; she once toured Spain with a band playing the saxophone. Her friends describe her as loyal, considerate and caring…. And a little bit crazy! Her guilty pleasure is watching Reality TV shows.
Ali began his career at Cactus as a resourcer, his job was to purely source the right candidates for the right roles before working his way up to a Senior Resourcing Executive. He loves building relationships with candidates and clients enjoying the culture of the business and work environment. Cactus is a fun place to work with a very supportive team environment.
Ali has a love of music and enjoys seeing bands play live at music festivals and gigs, he plays a couple of instruments himself, mainly the guitar and says his friends would describe him as laid-back and friendly with a decent sense of humour.
Before travelling around Australia Leigh worked for a debt collection agency but on his return to sunny UK he decided he needed an exciting new career path so embarked on a career in recruitment. He says he is proud to work at Cactus and be part of a hugely successful team, saying they work hard and play harder! He starts his day early by checking through candidates CVs and contacting them straight away to beat the competition.
Leigh’s moment of fame was dancing during the end credits on Children in Need when he was 6 years old with Starlight Stage and Dance Academy and his guilty pleasure is the band Little Mix!
Emma began her career as a Graphic Designer before starting a family and rethinking her career path. She started working as an administrator whilst studying Human Resources but missed using her creative side; working at Cactus is the perfect mix of design and admin using all the skills she has learned over her career. There is no typical day in the Cactus office for Emma everyday is different.
People would be surprised to know that Emma once did a tandem skydive for charity raising money for Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund… since skydiving she has also zip wired over a quarry this time for fun!
