How to make your brand stand out from the crowd

Recruitment in the call centre industry can be competitive. If you want your business to thrive though, you need creme de la creme employees to get you there. But, with so many businesses vying for the very best talent, to come out on top, you’ve got to go one better.

So, here are some simple (but effective) steps to help elevate your business from the sea of sameness.

Differentiate your job description

Job descriptions are pretty standard nowadays. Most of them follow a similar template and cover the same things, so why not go against the grain? Try a video so you can really get your personality across. An animation to catch their attention. Or even a puzzle to really put yourself out there.

Either option is more likely to stick in their mind than the norm. Not only that, but they’ll show you’re a forward-thinking company, you’re fun, and you’re not afraid to take an unconventional approach.

The proof’s in the pudding

Instead of just listing a string of perks, prove them. For example, it’s all well and good saying you “reward colleagues that hit their targets”, or you “harness a fun and enthusiastic work environment”, but don’t forget to answer the ‘how’.

Whether it’s with weekly quizzes, early finishes, team lunches or a regularly topped up treats table, substantiate your claims. If resource allows it, it’d be great to capture this kind of content on camera, to show a) it’s authentic, b) it actually happens, and c) your business’ personality.

If you’re struggling to reel off any perks, perhaps it’s time to go back to the drawing board and introduce some...

Stick to what you say

If the interview’s arranged for 3pm, be ready for 3pm. If you say you’ll get back to candidates in the next working week, do just that. It sounds basic, but you’d be surprised by how many businesses don’t stick to their word, and it doesn’t make a great first impression.

Open and honest lines of communication are incredibly important in business, so if you can’t even do it during the early stages of recruitment, you run the risk of setting off alarm bells.

Back up your beliefs

When people are making purchases, they like to read reviews because it’s easier to believe the words of genuine people who’ve tried and tested the product or service.

Well the recruitment process is no different. Instead of spoon feeding applicants with reasons your business is so great, let your employees - past and present - do it for you. Odds are candidates will find more value in this anyway, and it’s another outlet for you to show off your business’ culture, values and personality, too.
