Are you paying the 'Real Living Wage' to your contact centre staff?

As we know, pay is an important part of attracting and retaining talent.

According to Breakroom.cc (the people-powered job comparison site for hourly work) this is what call centre workers earn on average, as shared by actual call centre workers:

Let’s compare this to the Real Living Wage (RLW), the Real Living Wage is calculated based on the actual cost of living in the UK

As of 2020, the RLW is £9.30 across the UK, and £10.75 in London.

Although the average pay rate for a call centre worker is above the RLW, 50% of call centre workers earn under the RLW.

This means that 50% of call centre workers don’t earn a pay rate that covers the cost of living in the UK.

Call centre workers deserve to get a pay rate that meets living costs, as well as help cover any financial commitments they may have, if not, it seems clear that attracting and retaining good call centre workers is going to be a huge challenge!
