About
Shell Energy Retail Limited is the UK consumer gas, electricity and broadband operations business of Shell.
The company does not generate electricity, instead purchasing it from international markets. Originally known as First Utility, the company had a relationship with Shell, where it acted as an intermediary to purchase wholesale energy on the global market. Shell reached an agreement to purchase the company and completed the acquisition in February 2018. Rebranding to Shell Energy in the UK took place in March 2019 and the business now forms part of Shell's New Energies division.
Where we came in
We were approved by the senior leadership of Shell to assist them in the formation of their 1st Customer Contact operation focused on their new Energy product.
The site in Portsmouth was chosen as an ideal location for the launch of this brand new product for Shell and was to house advisors covering service, retentions, sales and support.
We worked with the business to research the local market for customer contact people, assisting on salaries, bandings, benefits and helped build the resourcing plan.
Working alongside the internal team we provide set numbers for each intake and quickly completed the first few intakes with 81 hires, all whom started on time.
The campaign was a complete success with 1 start for every 2 people who were interviewed.
